Tree of Tranquility, Harvest Moon- why won't Jin talk about the seed?

I had the harvest goddess tell me to find the seed at the spring on mt gelato.. I know I am supposed to get one from Jin, tried visiting at his clinic and talking to him when he is standing up, sitting down, outside the clinic...help? does it have to be a certain time of day or weather?
